Year after year my engineering team go through a significant amount of our Peak and Average power sensors due to damage. What can I do to reduce the inconvenience and downtime due to repair or replacements of these sensors?

Most damages to the power meters and sensors can be avoided by following a few precautions. One of the main things to remember is to ensure that measured power and DC voltage are always below the maximum limit indicated on the power sensor.

The RF connectors of both the equipment and connecting cables should be cleaned and protected when not in use. Take precautions to prevent ESD, and make sure the equipment is properly grounded and that the ambient temperature is < 30 Celsius
