My company is switching from USB2.0 to USB3.0 Superspeed. Can my old DSO80304B test it or do I need a new scope and software?

re:switching from USB2.0 to USB3.0 SuperspeedBest Answer!
USB2.0 measurment speed is 480mbps. USB3.0 is 5Gbps. You would need a 12 or 13GHz scope to fully test it.

Ya you would need a new high end scope for sure. Plus if you are testing receiver jitter tolerance you would need a BERT too. The Agilent N4903A comes to mind. Those things are over $200K!

I figured. I wish they would future proof these scopes. We spent $30K on the DSO80304B and now have to spend $300K to do USB3.0. Do you know what the USB3.0 software is called?

You would need an Agilent DSA91304A with the U7243A USB3.0 Software and U7242A USB3.0 Test fixture for the compliance test.

USB3.0 is backward compatible too so you would need the full USB2.0 test to do it. So atleast you have one part of the test and your old scope is not totally useless.
